If you’ve ever stayed at Kimberleyland Waterfront Holiday Park, chances are you’ve already heard whispers about a certain local celebrity who calls our lagoon home. No, it’s not a movie star passing through town — it’s Gummy, our resident toothless freshwater crocodile and one of the most photographed locals in Kununurra.

Gummy has lived at Kimberleyland for decades and is estimated to be around 60 years old. With a gentle nature (for a croc!) and a face that seems to be permanently smiling, he has become a favourite attraction for families, wildlife lovers and curious travellers alike. Despite his fearsome species, Gummy’s lack of teeth gives him a unique, endearing look — and a name that sticks with visitors long after their stay.

Each day, guests can sometimes spot Gummy basking near the foreshore, gliding through the still lagoon waters or lounging beneath overhanging branches. His calm presence and slow movements offer an incredible opportunity to see a freshwater crocodile in its natural environment — safely and respectfully, of course. Freshies are naturally shy creatures, but Gummy seems to enjoy the attention, often swimming closer for a good look at his fans.

Gummy has even become a bit of a social media icon, with guests sharing selfies, snaps and holiday stories featuring Kimberleyland’s most recognisable reptile. He embodies the magic of the East Kimberley — ancient, wild, unexpected and full of personality.

For many visitors, meeting Gummy becomes one of the highlights of their Kimberley journey. He reminds us that our holiday park isn’t just a place to stay — it’s a place where nature and adventure live right outside your cabin door.

So next time you wander down to the lagoon at sunset or sip your morning coffee on the foreshore, keep your eyes peeled. Gummy might just pop up to say hello.

And trust us — once you’ve spotted him, you’ll never forget him.
